This page explains what information Refuge Linen LLC gathers when you shop with us, why we gather it, and what control you have over it. Using this site means you're agreeing to what's outlined below. If anything here doesn't sit right with you, please reach out to us before making a purchase.
What we collect
When you place an order, we collect your name, email address, shipping and billing address, and payment confirmation. Payment card details are handled by Shopify Payments and never reach us. If you create an account, we also collect your username and password. And like most sites, we automatically collect some technical information as you browse such as device and browser type, IP address, and which pages you visit.
If you join the newsletter, we store your email address in Klaviyo and use it to send occasional letters about the linen and the seasons in Telluride. Every message carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately. We may still send you non-promotional emails about your account or an order even after you unsubscribe from marketing.
Cookies & advertising
The store sets cookies required for the cart and checkout to function, plus analytics cookies that tell us which pages are read. We also use advertising cookies through Google Ads, Shopify Audiences, and similar platforms to show relevant ads on other sites and measure whether those ads worked. You can refuse non-essential cookies without breaking the store, though doing so may affect how well certain features work.
Sharing
We share your information with the vendors who help us run the business: Shopify (our platform), our payment processor, our shipping carriers, and services like Klaviyo for email. We also share limited order and browsing information with advertising partners like Google and Shopify Audiences, so we can show relevant ads and measure their performance. Under California and similar state laws, this counts as a "sale" or "share" of information even though no money changes hands. We don't sell your information to data brokers, and we don't share anything beyond what's described here.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access or know what personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete information we hold about you
- Receive a copy of your information (data portability)
- Opt out of the sale/sharing of your information or its use for targeted advertising
- Limit our use of any sensitive personal information
To exercise any of these, write to rest@refugelinen.com. We may need to verify your identity first. We won't discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Some browsers let you turn on an automatic signal called Global Privacy Control, which tells websites you don't want your information sold or shared. Where the law requires it, we treat that signal the same way we'd treat a direct request from you. However, because it's tied to a browser rather than a person, it only applies to the specific device sending it, not to every device you use.
Children's data
Our services aren't intended for children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security & how long we keep your data
No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee that. We keep your information for as long as we need it, to maintain your account, fulfill orders, meet legal and tax obligations, or resolve disputes. Order records are generally kept for accounting and warranty purposes; email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
International visitors
Refuge Linen LLC is based in the United States, and your information is processed here, including by our vendors and service providers. If you're visiting from the EU or UK and we transfer your information internationally, we rely on legally recognized safeguards for that transfer (such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses).
Complaints
If you have concerns about how we handle your information, write to rest@refugelinen.com first. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the revised version here and update the date at the top.
