How to care for your linen
Washing
Machine wash warm or cold on a gentle cycle, with like colours and a mild detergent.
No bleach and no fabric softener. Both coat the flax fibre and stop it softening the way it should.
Drying
Tumble dry low and take it out while it is still slightly damp, or line dry.
Over-drying is the one thing that will make linen feel brittle. Everything else it forgives.
Ironing
Optional, and mostly a matter of taste. Linen is meant to look lived in.
If you want a flatter finish, press it while it is still damp on a medium setting.
Storage
Somewhere dry and out of direct sun. Cotton or linen bags rather than plastic, so the fibre can breathe.
Refold along different lines now and again — a permanent crease is just a fold that never moved.
Long flax, not short. It's the difference between a fiber that thins after a year and one that just gets softer.
It'll soften with every wash. That's not wear — it's the fiber relaxing into itself. Give it time, and it'll feel like a different fabric than it did on night one. That's the fiber doing exactly what it's supposed to do.
Some shedding is normal as the linen breaks in. It may pill or “slough” for the first four or five uses and washes. You may notice this at the foot of the bed, or as a lot of lint in the dryer. This will settle.

Fitted sheets fit a mattress up to 16 inches deep. Linen relaxes after the first wash, so measurements are taken after washing rather than off the loom.
